I remember when I was about 13, and being bought a copy of ‘Shout’ magazine on holiday and it had my first ever lipgloss in it from Collection 2000 (now just known as Collection of course) which tasted and smelt like cherry, it was blooming amazing. It looked terrible but let’s ignore that shall we!? After that I feel that scented makeup really was resigned to teens and various gimmicky makeup that was way more about the scent or taste than the actual product.

Never in a million did I imagine back then that I would be sniffing my eyeshadow pallette to get a whiff of peach or my blush to smell vanilla. And the biggest change is that the product actually looks good on too. So based on the joy that scented makeup brings I thought I’d round up my fave scented items in my makeup drawer.

Too Faced Sweet Peach Collection

Too Faced are the King of scented makeup. Launching the original chocolate bar palette to everyone’s delight they’ve capitalised on this and have mastered the cute but not tacky scented game. I managed to get my hands on the Too Faced Sweet Peach Eyeshadow Palette on its first release in April 2016, and it arrived just in time for my trip to Barcelona. Needless to say I was in love. So much so that when the rest of the collection launched this year, I was straight to Debenhams to get a Peach Oil Lip Gloss in Papa Don’t Peach and the Sweet Peach Glow Kit. I’d recommend the eyeshadow palette as it’s so buttery soft like all the other Too Faced eyeshadows and the colour payoff is also to their usual high standards. The shade choice is great too, my faves are Nectar and Bellini which are great for a summer eye look.  The Glow kit is great for paler skins, which is rare,  the blush is a lovely warm peachy colour, and the highlighter compliments it well. On days where I don’t want to faff with a contour, the bronzer highlight gives a subtle finish. With the gloss it’s great for a quick swipe on a no lippie day but probably isn’t worth the ££.

Kiko Milano – Cocoa Shock Blush

This was the product that inspired this post, however it was Limited Edition last year and no longer available I’m super gutted as this duo is the perfect Peach blush combo, and they smell like vanilla! I won’t bang on about how fab it is as unless you like to trawl eBay you aren’t finding one anywhere to buy.

Models Own

When I saw Models Own Lix were salted caramel scented and flavoured I wanted one so much! I was gifted the shade 04- Pink Candy* which is pinker than my usual shades (I’m eyeing up Butter Crunch) but I can’t resist putting it on purely for the taste! It’s a velvet matte so it was very creamy and not drying. On first application it comes out shiny, and you need to apply a decent amount for it to really show the colour as I find it to be ever so slightly sheer. It dries down a little bit isn’t a true matte or velvet as there’s definitely some shine in there too as you can see in the swatch.

Models Own Nail Polish Remover is another peach one I couldn’t resist, this is a duo phase Acetone Free Nail Polish Remover* and there’s four scents available. Imagine the scene of me and Rach huddled over them sniffing them in the new Leeds Models Own stores opening night- We did look rather strange for those that didn’t know they are scented! The Peach scented one was of course my favourite and as Luke always moans when I remove my polish because he hates the smell, it’s well worth the £3.99, and I’ll be buying myself one when this runs out!

I think it’s safe to say these are all very far removed from my teenage cherry lipgloss but they all have that fab fun element that it had back in the 90’s but just much better formulated. This is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to scented products though so tell me below or on social what your favourite is!
