I found the perfect top. Well if you’re as obsessed with embroidery as I am that is.

Unless you’ve had your head under a rock for the past 6 months you can’t have missed embroidery being the big thing this season. Of course it’s carrying well into spring summer too, so it’s definitely worth investing in. I picked this top as part of ‘my top 5 new In items’ from River Island Plus over on She Might Be .

I’d waited so long for the Embroidered Cold Shoulder Top (£35) to come into stock In the River Island Plus range after seeing it at the Curve fashion festival back in September. And I love it. It’s become my go to top now when I want to look like I’ve made and effort but still be comfy, plus it’s doesn’t need ironing. Wins all round.

I have to wear it with my own Cami underneath as the one that came with it was far too short but, as down sides go I figure it’s a pretty small one.

Oh and it’s so high necked I have to leave the zip slightly open so I don’t feel like I’m being strangled every 5 mins. But the cute frills make up for it. It’s a Peplum shape which I enjoy as I think it helps emphasise Curves that I don’t really have I’ve even got a slight waist in it- I’ll take that.

It doesn’t cling any further down than by boobs which is just how I like it- I’m not about that body con lyf I’m afraid! And thinking about it , I think it would look great on all bust sizes too as the frills emphasise but also compliment, so really this shape is just a winner.

Also I know it’s cold Shoulder and loads of people hate that but I think the fact it’s a Frill that makes up the sleeve part means it’s more organic in its look and doesn’t look like someone has cut out the shoulder of the top like some do!

I’m wearing a Size 20 here and apart for the Cami being too sharp everything else fits great, and it’s pretty true to size.

I wore it with my faithful black treggings here but to dress it up some more it would look lovely with some statement skinny jeans or a pencil skirt for a night out. I won’t lie I’m quite surprised at how versatile this top is as it can be easily dialled up or down with what you pair it with, so has earnt its money. Beside that for such lovely embroidery it’s quite a reasonable price, even some more budget brands are charging upwards of £30 for similar embroidered pieces.

As you can probably gel I am loving this top! Let me know if this post had inspired you to try embroidery, frills ot even a cold Shoulder look, in the comments below or social!
