If you need moisture and beautiful conditioning for your hair then read on! As part of the Salon Success Styling Society Programme* I’m sent bits from their brands to try out, and I’ve been trying out the new Rare MarulaOil range* for the past couple of months. If you didn’t know Marula is the new Argan when it’s comes to super oil (and has 50% more antioxidants) and in its oil form can be used in many ways- I’m talking cuticle oil, hair oil, body oil .. You get the idea.

So I was the sent the MarulaOil Shampoo, Conditioner, MarulaOil Rare Oil Intensive Masque and both MarulaOil Rare Oil Treatments (the standard and the light version). I hadn’t seen it around as it’s pretty new to the block and I got very giddy when I saw all the beautiful packaging. The oils are in a gorgeous matte black glass bottle which looks so good on my dressing table.

Even the cat loves it (that’s her happy face). I was eager to try it all out as my hair was quite dry around the ends at the time, unfortunately the shampoo and conditioner were not for me upon first use. I ended up with roots that went greasy really quickly, which considering I’ve trained my hair to last around 6 days between washes I just wasn’t used to it after a day or two. Marula Oil spheres actually cling to hair and deliver bursts of oil whoever you touch your hair- which explains why mine got greasy as I scratched my head all day!

So if you do have dry roots or wash your hair frequently, or dorm constantly touch your hair like I do – I think it could be good for you. Needless to say I haven’t gone whole hog again but I have been using the conditioner for the lengths of my hair avoiding my roots and it’s helped my hair be softer and hasn’t turned it greasy since. I do find a little goes a long way which also helps avoid it too. It’s also helped it not be as straw like as it was before and I think I’ve got the balance just right now.

With regard to the oil I tried it on my hair but alas it was too rich, so I’ve been using it on my cuticles to get them hydrated. Again, a little goes a long way and it smells amazing. It sinks in fast too so doesn’t leave me with oily fingers after it’s been applied. I also found this on the Paul Mitchell Blog which shows various uses for the oils and the mask which I found handy when deciding how to use my oil.

So as MarulaOil doesn’t suit my hair on the whole and I have enough in one bottle  of oil to keep my Skincare needs going for a while I’ve decided to hold a little comp for you guys to win the MarulaOil Rare Oil Intensive Mask and the MarulaOil Rare Oil Treatment! After chatting to some of my fave bloggers at a Salon Success dinner I attended last week (more to come on that!) the mask comes highly rated and I’m told it’s great for coloured hair!
