Don’t be fooled by the title of this post, this isn’t about some 60second micro burger takeaway, it’s actually fast, takeaway food that’s packed full of super food’s to enable you to grab a healthy, balanced lunch (or breakfast or dinner) on the go. Nourish have branches is Sheffield and Leeds and as of last week started being part of Deliveroo too (I’m so getting some delivered to work next time I’m tempted by fish and chips Friday!). I was invited to their spring menu launch to try out their new dishes on the menu and hopefully discover some super fast food!
Their ingredients are locally sourced so when there was rhubarb in our first salad I wasn’t as surprised as I should have been, given both stores are close the the rhubarb triangle. Given I’m not a rhubarb fan I didn’t wholly enjoy the Spring Superfood Salad but I didn’t dislike it as much as I thought I would have. The grains and beans plus the spring onions had a really clean and fresh taste contrasted with the olives stronger taste.

superfood salad review  We tried a couple of other salads too, Duck Bang Bang (cold duck, which was nicer than it sounds with rice noodles and  bok choy) and my favourite dish of the night, the Lift Yourself salad which has beetroot, feta and buckwheat. I could literally eat it for dayyyys.

We also tried a few of the warm dishes they offer, we had the Italian Meatballs topping on a baked sweet potato.this was my fave as I love sweet potato and the idea of having a baked one is just heaven to me! David who was the co founder of Nourish said it was a last minute addition to the menu before they opened originally but it had been the most popular pick up dish on the menu!

We also got to have a q&a with David who is a nutritionist and it was great to hear how they are playing an active part in the community and have worked with local business and the council to provide the right kitchen equipment and a healthy recipes guide to those moving into temporary accommodation etc. They also launched a pay it forward loyalty card in December which is such a fab idea, and would make me be a returning customer for sure.

We also tried the Beef Rendang which was some people’s fave, it was nice and tasty and the slow cooked Yorkshire beef was lovely! The Sweet Potato and Vegetable Masala was the only dish I left some of, personally I didn’t like the ginger and fennel combo in the sauce but if you are a fan of them then this on is for you! Finally the Chicken and Red Pepper Tagine was our last dish and I really enjoyed it. I couldn’t taste the apricots in it per se but I think they added a delicate sweetness to the sauce and I would order the dish for lunch one day for sure.

I didnt try any sweet things but there are some on the menu, the sweet potato brownies are calling my name! I had a fab time there and it was great to sit with Holly, Tarnya and Hannah and chat weddings and babies!(neither of them mine lol!)and I’m really glad I’ve found somewhere I can grab something healthy on the go too!
