I think it could be quite shameful, in millennial terms at least, to say that at age 35 I’d never had a proper facial until the other day! Where there’s an option of a treatment at a spa I always chose a massage (although now I won’t as it undoes all my osteopath’s hard work!) or a mani or pedi due to my nail polish obsession! Before a holiday or big event it’s now my nails and feet I think of and pamper but I always ignore my face. However I’ve started to realise I shouldn’t take my face for granted, a painted nail lasts a few weeks but my face is for life!
So when The Apothecary Salon in Tickhill (near Doncaster) invited me across to try out their Comfort Zone Skin, Science + Soul Facial * I hadn’t really fully prepared for just how amazing it would be! After an initial skin consultation, talking through my skin concerns and my current routine, I was led into a darkened room with just a few candles to guide my way!
This facial was a dress down, laid down whole hog experience. There were lots of lotions and potions, peel off face mask and shoulder and arm massages throughout the 30mins. It was all based on my skincare prescription that had been determined from my consultation, all Comfort Zone products are used, the mask in particular was a fave of mine.
When it was over I felt so, so relaxed. I actually couldn’t believe it, I was slurring my words as my brain was just so chill it couldn’t compute what I wanted to say in time! Luckily there’s an amazing space to relax in afterwards and have a cup of tea. I’m not a hot drink fan but I must say the Bluebird Tea Co Dozy Girl was just perfect to sip on whilst admiring the decor- it was so my aesthetic with palm prints, dark grey, distressed wood and copper all featuring heavily. Goals.
The whole Salon is just as pretty too as you can see- and as for my skin afterwards? It looked so good- my friends even noticed a few days later when I wasn’t wearing any makeup and said how glowy my skin looked (they didn’t know I’d done anything different either!) and I must admit the soft feeling lasted a good couple of weeks with me using a mask a week in between and some of the samples of the skincare I came away with.
I think it’s fair to say I’m a Facial convert thanks to The Apothecary Salon and of you’re in the Doncaster/Sheffield area I would highly recommend a visit, is it something you treat yourself to regularly or are you like me an a facial novice? I’d love to know!
