Until recently I’d never been into false lashes, I’d given them a good go when I was much younger (I’m taking when glitter tip ones and coloured mascara were around!) But I could never really apply them properly and they just didn’t look great!
Fast forward a few years (*cough) and I’m in the same situation applying falsies with a little more success and a little less glitter. However I’d tried a fair few pairs including ones that made it look like I had slugs on my eyes (they went straight in the bin!) and so finding a good pair that would actually look good and stay on became my goal.
In my quest I found one pair that were good but very natural and all the others were failed attempts, with some having a band so thick they popped off mid night out, some being too Geordie Shore for anyone’s liking and others just looking plain ridiculous.
I really wanted to find a natural pair with a little more volume than my favourite ones which would be perfect for a night out.
So when I was invited to a Nouveau Lashes event with promises of finding the right strip lash and tips on how to apply them I jumped straight on board!
The event was at Leeds Malmaison which is such a lovely hotel and we had canapés and drinks before we got down to the lashes.
We were taken through the 3 types of service Nouveau offer
- Extend- Individual lash extensions
- Enhance- LVL treatment straightening (giving length) and tinting of your own eyelashes
- Express- Professionally applied strip lashes to suit each eye shape, or fillers and clusters to last a little longer
We saw Corinne having a strip lash applied and then Kellie Demo’d the LVL treatment. She looked fabulous afterwards.
Whilst that was happening we got to fit our own strip lashes.
We were given a handy eye guide which I’ve included so you can use it too, which helped us determine our eye shape and therefore which style strip would suit us best.
As I’m almond shaped I can take lost lash shapes so went for the Volume style 3 ones. This was the most popular style on the night as they looked great on most eye shapes.
The tips to apply them picked up were:
- Trim to the length of your eye to ensure a good fit
- If the band isn’t shaped when you remove from the packet take each end and wiggle the lash to loosen it up and give some shape (we didn’t have this issue with the Noveau ones as they have such a fine band so are very flexible)
- Apply glue and ensure you wait for it to go tacky (approx 30secs-1min)
- Start applying from the centre not from one edge to another
- Use your ring finger and thumb once applied to almost clamp the lash at the base to your lash line
I did all this and voila!!
Here I am in action from Nouveau’s Instagram I loved them and was even more happy when I was given another 2 sets , glue and lash conditioner* to bring home with me- I’m sorted for quite a while now!
If you want to try out the strip lashes you can get 20% off them using the code LASHESLIVE20 which is valid until the 20th April .
I’d love to hear if these tips have helped you as much as they have me or if you have any other tips let me know below!
