Ad. This trip to Tenerife with Jet2holidays was a press trip and this post is in collaboration with Jet2holidays. As we drove further into the darkness of Teide National Park in Tenerife, the temperature dropping into negative numbers, the stars started to shine brighter and the snow started to appear on the sides of the road. We saw just 5 cars on our 45 minute journey as we climbed higher in our Fiat Panda Rental. The aim of this early rise was to catch the sunset above the clouds with Mount Teide as our backdrop. I can safely say it didn’t disappoint. We’d seen a Vlogger, Seen Through Glass, visit this spot last year. Immediately we added a Tenerife trip to our list of trips to take. I hadn’t expected we’d fulfil it so soon into 2023 though!

20 Years of Jet2

The reason for getting out there so soon, was because Jet2 were celebrating something special. Sunday 12th February 2023 marked the 20 year anniversary of their first flight from Leeds Bradford Airport. It’s mad to think that Jet2 now have flights to loads of destinations including Tenerife and that we got to take one to mark exactly 20 years. It was pretty cool at the airport too. We got lots of celebratory swag as well as a cupcake each, which at 6am was most welcomed. I also noticed the day after they were celebrating again as ATOL had named Jet2holidays to be the biggest UK tour operator. It’s no wonder with Jet2holidays choice of cheap holidays and package deals, plus super friendly staff. (It’s nice to see a Leeds based business doing well too of course!)

I continued their celebrations onboard, with a little fizz and some presents – to me of course! They had a further 20% off beauty, fragrance and watches so picked up a pack of 5 Spacemasks for £10 and also an eye spray. Luke also treated me to the Gemma necklace that they sell. Love Island fans will know why this is named that way. I just really liked the design and chunkiness of the chain and the fact its gold plated too. I think it’s the most I’ve shopped on a plane so the celebratory spirit had definitely taken hold of me!

Landmar Playa La Arena

There were even more Celebrations upon arrival at our hotel, with a greeting of Cava as part of their Platinum Check In experience. The atrium of the Landmar Playa La Arena is vast, with hanging greenery from the balconies surrounding it and glass lifts whizzing up and down the 8 floors. Luckily we had a map to navigate the rest of the communal areas. Then it was time to check out our room! We were in a Platinum room for our stay and had a pool and sea view. There was more Cava to greet us there, which can be arranged for special occasions I believe. I’ll do a full hotel review soon so wont go into too many details. In short I would recommend, especially going platinum if you are child free as it gets access to an exclusive snack bar, premium drinks, and the infinity pool area.

Many Package Holidays to Tenerife with Jet2holidays, could be used as a great way to just ‘fly and flop’, relax and let everyone take care of everything! It’s what we did on our last trip to Tenerife with Jet2holidays too. As I have to say package holidays do make me feel more at ease when organising, as you can just book and go. I didn’t have to worry about extra luggage or transfers. Plus I even booked our day trip as an add on to my holiday, it was so easy. We did want to explore a lot this time though so after a day relaxing and enjoying everything the platinum experience offered at the Landmar Playa La Arena, we hired a car to explore for the next couple of days.

Three Spots to Visit In Tenerife

Teide National Park- Home of Mount Teide

On Valentines Day we saw both sun phases in the Teide National Park. With sunrise covered by a 530am get up and sunset covered by the ‘Teide by Night’ tour we booked through Jet2holidays. The morning light hitting Mount Teide in the distance was stunning as you can see.

In the evening we stood and watched the sunset with a glass (or three) of Cava in hand. Then, after a 3 course meal, we ended the trip stargazing and spotting shooting stars (just like we did on the night we were engaged), very romantic!

Above the clouds the sky was so clear, as Tenerife is actually one of the best places in the world for stargazing. It’s got clean air, clear skies and high altitude making it perfect for looking at the constellations. The quality of the sky even has protection, with a ‘sky law’, to stop any light pollution or other pollution forms. Our guides used laser pointers to point out certain stars before going to telescopes they had setup to look at those not visible to the naked eye. You have to add it to your list to do!

Masca Village

This village isn’t the easiest to get to but the view is stunning, with a winding, narrow road that leads down to it. As we arrived the heavy rain was proof that Tenerife really does have multiple climates. It’s cute to see and I wish we could have stayed longer to see it in the sun, but we needed to get on the road to explore the other places on my list.

Orotava

This district is full of old charm and colourful buildings, it’s also home to Casa de los Balcones (House of Balconies). You can explore the house which is set up as a museum type affair to show how it was lived in when it was a family home. After visiting we wandered around the area and stopped off for lunch at Bar La Duquesa. A local eatery that has been owned by multiple generations of the same family. The Canarian ‘wrinkled’ potatoes were lush!

We had such a fab time in Tenerife with Jet2holidays and hopefully this has been enough to whet your appetite for a visit too! I really enjoyed being in the sun and exploring in February and would love to do it again. Plus, I still haven’t been to a few of the Canary Islands and Jet2holidays already fly to Gran Canaria and Lanzarote from Leeds too. I call that serendipity no?
