I’ve wanted coloured hair since I was 14, it’s never really worked out though! I bought a turquoise hair mascara at 15 to try and get it (it was the 90’s!) and as I said to Lilah Parsons on twitter, hair mascara was the hair chalk of the 90’s : this made us both feel better I think!
I’d eyed up the body shop hair chalk but Mr E was with me and stopped me buying it- meany- so when I saw this is Primark sans husband I threw it in my basket.
There were 2 different options , 1 was brighter pink and purple and I went for the pastel hair chalk which contains baby pink and blue colours.
Now for the stress test:
The plastic clamps made a cracking sound when I used them, which worried me but they didn’t break thankfully.
The pink chalk didn’t work at all, it wasn’t very chalky (hah!) and didn’t transfer any colour onto my hair or really my fingers when I rubbed it! Not good.
So I swapped the colours over , when I did this one of the pink ones broke which was annoying!
However the blue was much better and transferred quite easily into my hair, and showed up! It was an effort and did feel drying after.
Over all the Primark Hair Chalk set worked better on the lighter parts of my hair, and requires hairspray to keep the stronger colour in for an evening. I didn’t and it had gone within 2 hours.
I wouldn’t buy again, but for £4 for 2 pastel colour chalks it wasn’t too expensive to experiment with before purchasing a higher end hair chalk or spray, and will mean I can show Mr E what my hair tips look like in colour! (Although not pink as quite frankly that colour was rubbish!)
