The MAC Instant Artistry Pop Up came to Meadowhall last week and caused quite a stir. The idea of the pop up , which was situated on the lower mall just outside the Oasis, was to bring MAC Instant Artistry to life by inspiring and educating shoppers.

The first part is based around the outside of the pop up where there were iPads and headphones available for you to navigate through the Instant Artistry videos which were filmed with MAC’s senior makeup artists from around the world. I watched the Contouring one, as im just obsessed with applying the perfect contour, it seemed the perfect one to watch. it was created by Beatriz C an artist from Mexico who showed in 3 steps how to contour your face.

There were so many other videos to choose from too-  quick brows, day to night eyes and ombre lips were my other top ones and I could have stood there all day! However I resisted when I was told most of them are available Here .
The second part involved the centre of the pop up where there were individual directors chairs infront of mirrors and a backdrop of ALL THE MAC MAKEUP. That’s where the instant (well ten minute) demo’s took place where MAC makeup artists were replicating the tutorials tailored to each customer. I wanted to see how the contour should be adapted for my skin type and shape so jumped in a seat and let them work their magic!

My artist used prep and prime to highlight under my eyes and around the orbital bone . Then followed that with a matte blush in the shade Harmony which was used to build the sculpt colour. I asked lots of questions which were answered and when I asked how a more blush feel could be added the shade Margin was added to the higher part of the contour. It was then finished with Mac Mineralize in Soft&Gentle as a subtle highlighted sweep across the top of the cheekbones.

As well as one to ones there were also Live Demo’s from key MAC Artists on the hour and you could also purchase whatever you liked through the iPads on some of the hosts of you wanted to buy what has been used which was handy if you forget shade names or types of products used, however the main focus was all about educating and inspiring and Ive already changed my contouring techniques based upon my visit!
