Horizontal Stripes

So we’ve all read that horizontal stripes make you look wider and it’s a print that should be avoided by anyone ‘plus size’. *Stuff* that I thought when I saw this Florence and Fred Limited Edition scuba prom dress in the sale at £17 last year. I really do heart monochrome so it just had to be mine! I’ve worn it lots but realised it had never had its moment on my blog, and my recent #WeAreTheThey post reminded me of that.
I styled it with some holographic sandals and white necklace from Primark here, but I’ve also used my Zara yellow clutch paired with black sandals to add a pop of colour into the outfit. (Toilet Selfie Alert!)

It’s actually really flattering I think as it pulls me in at the waist and is loose around my stomach- yay to no VBL! (As I said in my #WeAreTheThey post I still don’t feel confident showing that part of me yet!) I got a size 20 and I would say it was true to size although it has a tiny zip that gets stuck at the waist band so have resulted to pulling it over my head so I don’t have to use it! (Any one else hate it when dresses do that?)
As an alternative to this dress,  the Striped Skater Dress from Simply Be is a slightly more casual version , as it can be dressed down a little more thanks to its short sleeves and shape. I was very tempted to buy it when I visited Doncaster store but I was swayed away as they didn’t have my size and as I already having this one.
