So I mentioned in my PSTraveller post that my first travel post would be London. I chose London as I’d managed to get me and Mr E return train tickets for £10 each in Virgin’s £10 fare sale back in January- bargain! I then bagged a Travelodge for £33- yup in Central London! Thanks to a low price anyways and a 20% off voucher code to boot! I chose the Central Kings Cross one because it’s so lovely outside. It’s a really old building that just has that character, and it’s a 2 minute walk to Kings Cross so a perfect base for travelling. The rooms were very nice too, I think they’d been recently renovated and had the new king size bed in them too which Mr E appreciated when I started snoring in the night(I had a cold okay!!)
We dropped our bags off and then went to our first stop – The OXO Tower Restaurant and Brasserie. I’ve always wanted to visit there, as the views are just stunning, and they’ve just launched a brunch menu which is just TDF. The service, the cocktails and the drinks are all on point and we spent a lovely few hours here feeling truly spoilt and chilled. If you do go the mushrooms on toast with a boiled hens egg and waffles with bacon were my favourites!
After a quick stand on the viewing platform (which was uber cold and windy), I grabbed some outfit shots before we headed off. I got this La Redoute dress in their sale, as much as I find their sizing a bit sporadic they do have some lovely things and this dress in a size 20 was perfect for the trip. I added my new River Island gilet in cream (yes, I have this in grey too) and my Pieces Khaki Real Suede Rucksack. I adore this bag! I also wore my new Olivia Burton* watch courtesy of Joshua James Jewellers, look out for more shots of it soon.
After that interlude we went for a walk down the south bank all the way through to Big Ben, it’s been ages since I was a true tourist and saw some of the obligatory London sights and I must say I really enjoyed it!
We then wandered back through to Charing Cross where the brunch got the better of us and we got a taxi back from there! I used the GETT app to get us across town and back and loved it. It was super easy and got us there fast thanks to bus lane usage, as they are black cabs(well one of ours was bronze which was one of only a few I’m told!). It was so much more fun than the tube as we got to see a lot more or London!
When we got in we decided to binge watch a few movies as my cold had decided to raise its ugly (and painful) head again plus we needed to recharge for day 2! So Despicable Me, Finding Nemo and Wolverine it was. Plus we got to watch them in bed which we don’t do at home so double bonus!ahh the luxury!
Day 2’s post is still to come but I’m already looking at returning to London so if you could recommend one place to go where would it be?
