AD. PR event. As I climbed down the stairs of Ham and Friends in Leeds, I was suddenly transported to an Alpine lodge, scented with fresh pine and lit by twinkly fairly lights and candlelight. There was a raclette steaming in the corner luring me further into the scene. Immediately I craved the real thing …. To take a quick Jet2.com flight and to be sitting Après Ski style with an Aperol in hand surrounded by snow and fresh Alpine air, but you know what, this didn’t too badly at replicating it on a dreary Leeds day!

The Alpine Food and Drink

In celebration of Jet2.com Alpine and Ski Flights (with 8 ski destinations to choose from no less!) We were treated to an Alpine wine pairing with cheese and meats to accompany each one. Now when I say some of the cheeses were immense I’m not lying. The prices reflected that with some of them costing £50 for a small round. Luckily I don’t have expensive taste so I wasn’t loving that one haha! I did enjoy the Beaufort d’eté cheese though (its the hard cheese on the left of the plate.) I crowned it my favourite.

And wine wise? It HAD to be the Tre Monte Albana Orange wine from Italy. I’m really enjoying an orange wine a lately so it had to be my fave right? Then it was time to get stuck into the main event, the raclette. Needless to say it was as good as it looks. For a cheese pull to die for head over to my Instagram but warning, it will cause you to drool. I do not advise you to watch it on an empty stomach!

The Wreath Making

Then to celebrate Jet2Holidays Christmas Market breaks it was time to make festive wreaths to adorn our doors. The materials were also the source of the pine scent that greeted me as I arrived. Basement Blooms were on hand to give direction, and off we went! I am pretty happy with mine! Alas it wasn’t crowned overall winner but here we are! Harrogate Mama (or Lucy to her friends) was the outright winner and I can see why! It was stunning! I love a Christmas market break in 2023 we went to Budapest, and 2024 it was Tallinn and Helsinki that we manged to fit in. And Jet2Holidays offer many a package break as well as flights to popular destinations for a winter break.

Whilst I’m clearly a Christmas market lover, this alpine tasting has certainly got me craving a snowy new year break especially if this is the food and drink on offer! So watch this space!
