I was recently sent some Frank Bodyscrub* to be reviewed for the magazine I contribute to, and it was at the point of discovering this dry body scrub that it got me to thinking about the different body scrubs I use, and what benefits each one has and which type I prefer.
First up is this one byPassion For Natural* which contains only natural ingredients ( I suppose it’s in the name!!) and the exfoliant in it is organic walnut shell . It has a really creamy, slightly runny consistency and looks like yoghurt almost.
The aloe comes through and is softening but I do find the walnut shell a little harsh sometimes as it’s not so finely milled which I prefer and a larger piece often takes me by surprise whilst scrubbing.
I love the idea of the tub that it’s in but find using it in the shower a little difficult and I’ve gotten water in it more than once so I know keep this one as my bath body scrub as it locks in the moisture after I’ve been soaking in the bath for ages and I can take my time applying it so its not as harsh.
Frank Original Body Scrub* is so different. It’s a dry coffee based scrub, when you open this the smell isn’t overwhelming but it is strong, my husband informs me it does smell of coffee but I can smell a sweeter scent in there, which I think may be the nourishing almond oil it contains.
Either way it made him go and make a cuppa! This dry scrub is almost compost like in consistency, but works. The oils inside the mixture provide the moisture that seems to start softening once you mix it with water. It’s also advised this one is left on the skin for a bit to allow the softener to really take effect.
It’s finer milled too, but it can be as course as you like depending on how hard you scrub.
The biggest downside is the mess it can make and leave behind in the bottom of the shower. And it’s not a great one to use in s bath, unless you like to look like you’ve had a mud bath! So this is easier for the shower and the mess is nothing a quick rinse won’t solve!
The final one is Rituals Fortune Shower Cream Scrub . It’s a much thicker consistency than the first with clear scrub particles encased in a thick binding gel which is finely milled and foams slightly when rubbed against the skin to cleanse as well as polish the skin.
It’s designed to be a 2 in 1 product so the foaming is the cleansing action of the product working.
It also smells lovely and has the Laughing Buddha scent which is mandarin based, which I’m always a big fan of. I find I reach for this one the most as a quick non fuss scrub for bath or shower as its quite gentle.
I like all these scrubs and I was surprised about how they all meet my needs differently. Do you have a preffered scrub type or do you like all sorts? Share with me your favourite scrubs in the comments!
