I’ve had a lot of formal events recently, this wedding was a fantastic and eventful day, where Mr E was best man so I thought I should make a good effort to look good! As I was hunting for races outfits I’d found so many lovely dresses and fascinators so was quite spoilt for choice.
I finally chose this floral dress from ASOS, it just fits so well and the colours are beautifully summery but a pain to match things to! It’s an 18 and fits great, it’s midi length meant I didn’t have to worry about flashing anything I shouldn’t and could sit down with ease too.
I added my new Star by Julian McDonald Fascinator from Debenhams which was in the sale at £35 I just love it. It was one I bought as a races option but thought it was a little too small for ladies day. I got quite a few compliments on it throughout the day and it was ever so comfy to wear as it was so light weight.
To fully co ordinate the outfit I needed shoes and a bag to match. This was the real challenge! After a manic last min dash around the shops I ended up getting shoes I’d previously bought and returned (previously was too tight, tried these on and this pair fit!) from Faith at Debenhams. The suede flared heel sandal was in the sale at just £14.70 instead of £49 and I liked them as they had a smaller heel than most of my sandals! I then went in search of a bag and finally bought the ALDO Hendon (£35) clutch bag I’d used in my races outfit ideas post but forgotten about! They literally are the perfect match it was like they were made together.
Finding a necklace to tie it all in was a pain so that’s when I bought this Warehouse one (£22). I’ve started to see a lot of foil effect ones around recently and saw a nice one in River Island I liked (but resisted!) I’ve worn it loads already including to the Fusion Festival.
Nails of course matched, using an old Models Own Pro Polish and subtle floral art. Here I am caught on camera by the official photographer doing my makeup (I’ll link him once I have his details!) I used my 2True waterproof wow mascara incase there were any emotional moments! The smoky eye was Tarte eyeshadows and UD Naked Smoky.
I was really happy how it all came together however the shoes got changed for my orange Faith platforms halfway through as they had a tendency to rub my heels lots. The rest of the outfit was super comfy and I was glad if it being quite cool when the day was so hot. I’m thinking the dress will make another appearance just before the warm weather leaves us for good! Although as the mornings are darker now I think I could be running out of time which does not bring me joy! Such a shame!
On that saddened note let me know what you’re doing to cling onto the summer as I need tips to keep the Christmas feelings away (at least until I get back from holiday!)
